Rapidly-expanding graphic design company Square
Halo is spearheading a resurgence in the fortunes
of one of the most famous seaside resorts in
Britain.
Enterprising Square Halo, which launched 18 months ago, has won a graphic design
contract with Renaissance Southend (RSL), which was set
up in 2005 as the Urban Regeneration Company for Southend-on-Sea.
Square Halo designed and built an exhibition staged in a busy, working shopping
centre. The Square Halo team came up with an innovative and eye-catching array
of wall displays for the exhibition where Renaissance Southend and Southend-on-Sea
Borough Council were presenting a selection of ideas on how Victoria Avenue,
at the heart of the town, might change for the better.
Square Halo assembled the entire two-week exhibition on the upper level of Southend’s
Victoria Shopping Centre including the window graphics, the wall displays and
the literature incorporating a questionnaire and feedback form for visitors.
Square Halo is based at Basildon in Essex and Head of Design Grant Harris said: “We
are proud to be working with Renaissance Southend on this project and our team
has produced some eye-catching work for the exhibition. A lot of people took
time out from their shopping to examine the future vision for Victoria Avenue
and express views which will inform the final exhibition in July where the draft
Masterplan will be on display.
“We also had excellent feedback from exhibition visitors on the window
graphics and the displays inside.”
The RSL mission is to achieve sustainable growth and regeneration for the town
to which many thousands of people flock year-round for its famous seafront, pier
and various entertainment options. Under the banner of “Building a Better
Future”, RSL’s stated aim is to create a “thriving regional
centre which celebrates and enriches Southend’s community”.
The RSL commission is the latest success for Square Halo, whose broad artistic
talents have recently attracted contracts from top clients such as fast-food
chain McDonalds and world-recognised brand Thorn Lighting. Square Halo’s
skills include graphic and website design and multimedia skills.
Square Halo’s client list covers industries and sectors as diverse as engineering,
construction and leisure. Among recent projects have been the design of an apprenticeship
workbook for McDonalds, plus online brochures, websites and logo design for a
range of companies.
